Summer Simmons, a sophomore majoring in Biomedical Engineering with a Pre-Medical Concentration, conducts research through the Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems (CAVS). She plans to continue conducting research while pursuing a career in healthcare in the future. At Mississippi State University, she contributes to the design and optimization of custom foot orthotics using finite element analysis (FEA). Her research includes analyzing force distributions in Abaqus, interpreting simulation data, and collaborating with faculty and research engineers to improve orthotic design and performance.
