Katherine Robison, a junior biological sciences student from Humboldt, Tennessee, has been working in the Johnson Lab in the Department of Chemistry since April 2025. She focuses on crystallography of ion channel components to gain structural insights. In particular, she has been working on generating structures for calmodulin bonded to various molecules, such as IQ peptides and antiarrhythmic molecules. This involves growing and purifying protein, setting crystal trays, and analyzing data to create a crystal structure. In the future, she wishes to become a physician and serve rural communities, such as her hometown.
